MISS ITALY IN THE WORLD 2010, FROM THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC The new Miss Italy in the World 2010 is Kimberly Castillo Mota. Great emotion and some tears for Kimberly, who was elected in Jesolo by Mara Venier, president of the jury, at the end of the show broadcasted by Raiuno and presented by Massimo Giletti and Cristina Chiabotto. She was born in Higuey, in the Dominican Republic on August 26, 1988. Kimberly is 1.80 m. tall, with brown eyes and hair, studies architecture and works as a model. Miss Italy in the World 2010 owes her Italian origins (from Calabria) to her father Antonio. Second place was awarded to Miss Italy in Germany, Giuseppina Cannella, and third place went to Miss Italy in Amazonia, Esmeralda Yaniche, who was readmitted by the jury.
THE PROSCIUTTO TOSCANO LANDS IN HONG KONG For the second time, the Prosciutto Toscano (Tuscan ham) was the star of a promotional campaign in several stores of the Hong Kong chain, City Super from June 17-20. The promotion included some educational seminars for the staff and information for City Super store customers. The promotion was introduced by a press conference to inform the media about this initiative and invite the consumers to visit the supermarkets in order to taste a real Made in Italy specialty. Walter Giorgi and Fabio Viani, manager and president of the Consorzio of the Prosciutto Toscano, were both present during the promotional campaign.
LAVAZZA CONSOLIDATES IN THE BULGARIAN MARKET Lavazza took over 100% of Onda Coffee Break AD, the largest coffee shop chain in Bulgaria. With the takeover, the Italian company has consolidated its interests in the coffee shop business, with a portfolio of over 350 sales points in Europe, USA and Asia. This operation is in line with the international development strategy of the corporation and is an important investment for consolidating Lavazza in the Bulgarian market, which has been characterized by a remarkable increase in the consumption of espresso coffee in recent years. Through Onda, Lavazza took over 11 sales points, which are elegant and modern stores located on the busiest shopping streets and malls in Sofia. Coffee will be the main attraction, but consumers will also find Italian sandwiches, fresh food and pastries.
AURORA BETS ON TURKEY Aurora is looking eastwards again. After recent successful trade agreements in Vietnam and China, the Turin company signed an agreement in Turkey with the distribution partner Art Kalem. The agreement extends to the entire Turkish territory, focusing on Istanbul, where the first single-brand store of Aurora will be opened by the end of the year. “Turkey - said Cesare Verona, Managing Director of Aurora - is a key factor in our internationalization strategy. It is a country which is experiencing a real economic boom. The taste of Turkish customers is quite similar to that of our central European customers, so there was no need for restyling; nevertheless we had to modify the nib of our pens, in order to ensure a high quality stroke for the rounded Semitic writing of the Arabic alphabet.”
FERRERO, A WINNING EXAMPLE OF MADE IN ITALY After motorcycle racer, Valentino Rossi won first prize last year; this year, the Winning Italy Award was presented to Ferrero International. The Minister of Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini presented the prize to the brothers Giovanni and Pietro Ferrero during a ceremony at Villa Madama, which saw the presence of many other personalities, such as Undersecretary to the Prime Minister Gianni Letta and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Giampiero Massolo. The Winning Italy project has been developed to test the good state of Italian excellence, talent and creativity, gathering a series of positive results achieved by its protagonists in any sector. The prize is awarded to those people who best promote the image of Italy in the world.
“KISS ME AGAIN,” AN ASIAN TRIUMPH “This is an important sign of the vitality of Italian cinema, which is in tune with the taste of the jury of one of the most important film festivals in Asia. ” With these words the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Sandro Bondi commented the “Chinese triumph” of Gabriele Muccino: his last movie, “Kiss Me Again,” sequel to another great success, “The Last Kiss,” was awarded the Golden Goblet Award as best film of the 13th SIFF- Shanghai Film Festival, the most important event for cinema in Asia. The Italian film was awarded another two prizes, one for the best script and one for the best female actor, Vittoria Puccini, who played the role interpreted by Giovanna Mezzogiorno in the original movie.
