| GERMANY SPECIAL - Germany is an important basin for Italian companies, particularly in this delicate stage of the economy - and SACE is a strategic partner for improving competitivity |

After the collapse of world trade last year, 2010 opened with signs of a gradual recovery, also for Italian exports which, according to SACE forecasts, will show an increase of 5.4% in the two years 2010-11. The upturn will be driven by the emerging economies, with +8.3% for exports of goods to Asia and +7.3% to Latin America, but also the markets in the European area. Germany in particular, will be an important basin for Italian companies. Still, in these markets, it has become essential that Italian companies make use of all the tools available to increase their competitivity and thus be able to consolidate and increase the market shares acquired, including the insurance-financial tools offered by SACE, which are underused by businessmen in Italy. SACE is a strategic partner for Italian products with more than 46 billion Euros in commercial operations and insured financing around the world. SACE offers insurance coverage against the risk of no payment of supplies and to guarantee investment and financing in more than 180 countries (SACE has increased the countries in which it can operate from 155 to 181). These tools allow entrepreneurs to concentrate on their core business (product innovation, the search for new customers and markets, etc.) using SACE to check the reliability of the counterparts, ensure payment of supplies and improve access to financing (and the conditions of these) which would otherwise be difficult to obtain. In addition, in 2009, SACE and the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (Loan and Deposit Fund), refined the Export Banca system to allow companies to reduce the costs of financing applied to export and internationalisation operations or operations of strategic interest. Export Banca enables medium-long term funding to be supplied to the banks at competitive costs. If the bank channel wasn’t willing to give credit, Export Banca can intervene with direct financing. On the risk front, it should be noted that in the last edition of the SACE risks map the traditional outlet markets for Italian exports were critical - above all, insolvencies increased by 35% between 2008 and 2009. This requires further strengthening of the commitment to support Italian products in advanced markets like that of Germany.
