| In Shanghai, Proud to Be Italian

In June, I presented my movie, “The Trick in the Sheet” (L’imbroglio nel lenzuolo) at the Shanghai Film Festival in the metropolis of the Expo 2012, in China. It was impossible not to visit the famous Universal Expo and the Italian pavilion, which was the second most attended pavilion after that of China. I have to admit that before being there I could not imagine the strong emotions that would feel on that occasion.
Entering the Italian pavilion is like entering a magic world, in which you can find everything that best represents our beautiful country and makes it so appreciated in the world: wonderful clothes by our fashion designers, our unique artistic masterpieces, projects developed by the genius and skills of our designers and marvelous works carried out by our craftsmen. It is a pavilion which surprises and excites visitors, and more importantly, makes them understand that behind the simple objects which have become icons of Made in Italy there are hundreds of minds and hands. It is this union of ideas, fantasy, genius and industry which enables the manufacturing of products and works that everybody envies, and makes Italy one of the most loved and appreciated countries in the world.
I have to admit it: I discovered a new world at the Shanghai Expo, a marvelous world which completely represents me and all the Italians; this experience, which happened in a country as far away as China, made me even prouder to be Italian.
